The Forest Cries
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
A young girl must journey through a dangerous forest in search of their beloved grandmother. However, the gloomy forest is filled with corrupted creatures. Will you flight or fight against them? And beware, for the wrath of the forest's spirit may soon be upon you...
Controls:
Movement: WASD or arrow keys
Jump: spacebar
Poke attack: C
Shoot: X (gained ability)
Glide: after jump, press spacebar again and hold (gained ability)
You can access the settings and pause menu by pressing the ESC key.
Menus are navigated with your mouse pointer!
A 2D pixel-art platformer created for the Project Course on Game Development 2021, a joint course between the different universities of Turku. Further presented in the ICT Showroom 2021 event of the TechTurku week.
Tools used in game development were Unity as the game engine, Audacity for SFX, Aseprite for visuals, Visual Studio 2019 for the code editor.
Sidenote: The Windows build isn't signed in any way, so Windows Defender might pop-up. With all our heart we can assure you, this is a game made in Unity and nothing else. There is also a Linux build available for our Linux distro-using players! :)

Install instructions
The game is in a ZIP package. The executable inside of the folder is called TheForestCries (exe on Windows, x86_64 on Linux distros). The Unity libraries, player and game data folder are necessary for the game to function!

It's such a cute but creepy game, I love the feeling of dread it gives me! The art is beautiful and well put together, and the gameplay mechanics are diverse for a game this size.
Amazing work from the artists and the programmers, is definitely worth a download!
